In 2004, the Center for Korean Legal Studies held its Korean Law Forum with Ban Ki-Moon, Foreign Affairs Adviser to Korean President Roh Moo Hyun. Ban (equivalent of United States National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice) also held private meetings with faculty and Korean experts in the New York area. The event provided a rare opportunity for the presidential adviser to confer with experts on the North Korea nuclear issue and the future of U.S.-Korea relations before the Roh-Bush Summit Meeting last May.
On Sept. 29, 2004, Hon. Se-Hyun Jeong, minister of unification, Republic of Korea, gave a talk titled “The Future of Inter-Korean Relations: The Current Standoff and Roadmap for Peace and Prosperity,” to a capacity crowd in Jerome Greene Hall. The event was covered by several newspapers.
In October 2004, Korean Broadcasting System interviewed Jeong-Ho Roh '88 in a documentary, Discussions on Korean Society. He spoke about the differences between the U.S. and Korean legal systems and on recent reforms of the South Korean legal system. Radio Free Asia also interviewed him on the genesis of the name Korea and implications relating to the official name of North Korea, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.
